About ALAN J LEAR
Prior to an accident in 2002, which caused Alan to take up hypnotherapy on a full time basis, he spent over 30 years in training and development, personnel, lecturing and working as a consultant. He found that his experiences within these functions and working with diverse groups of people has helped him immensely when he was studying for his hypnotherapy qualification and subsequently in helping his clients to resolve their personal problems.
He has tremendous empathy for people trying to increase their knowledge and skills and/or generally make their lives better. He really enjoys working with and helping them to achieve their potential or to get whatever they want from life.
Throughout his prior career he has been involved in the training and development function. He has been involved in meeting with people with regard to counseling them on career choices; development opportunities, the courses available to them and preparing Individual Training Plans to meet those needs.
He has planned and organised training activities and has ensured that they have been delivered efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of the individual and the company.
In addition to the above He has gained experience, as part of the working party, in the development of the Ceramic Level 2 Craft National Vocational Qualifications and consequently was asked by the City & Guilds to become an External Verifier to assist Companies in achieving approved centre status.
He has been responsible for implementing the Investors in People Award. This involved setting up the systems and training function, the training and development of Instructors, Skills Assessors and Internal Verifiers. He introduced NVQ’s at all levels up to level 4, covering Managerial, Supervisory, Craft, Administration, Warehousing, Customer Service, and Retail functions.
Whilst in the Educational sector, in addition to his lecturing duties, he was responsible for Curriculum Development. He has personally written and developed several courses that gained approval as National Award Qualifications for BTEC, City & Guilds, R.S.A. and the West Midlands Examining Board. During this time he was also involved in teaching youngsters still at school, youngsters with severe learning difficulties or behavioural and emotional problems, young and mature adults.
Latterly He has been responsible for working with College Senior Management Teams nationally on the opening and operation of Information Technology Centres. This involved project management during the conversion of suitable premises, assisting with the recruitment and selection of staff, and the training of Managers, Tutors and Administrative staff in the operation of the centres and the delivery of the courses.
His knowledge of Health and Safety legislation helped him to ensure that organisations offered a safe working environment for clients and employees. He has taught Health and safety aspects – particularly risk assessment, to a variety of people in various roles and has carried them out personally. It is with the same professionalism that he approaches his service to all his clients. THEIR welfare is paramount and without question is his first concern.
On a personal note, he welcomes any opportunity to undertake further training and development that increases his knowledge and/or skills. To this end he works diligently in pursuing his continuing professional development in order to increase his knowledge and his skills as a hypnotherapist and has helped clients to bring about beneficial changes in their lifestyles and helped them to regain control of their lives.
